Internet Explorer 7 FTP Usage



Notes
  1. If you fail to connect to our server and you are working off of a company internet connection consult your IT Staff, a firewall may be blocking you.
  2. To check your version of Internet Explorer, follow these intructions.
  3. For instructions on doing an upload using a different version of Internet Explorer, go here.
  4. For instructions on doing an upload using the FTP program Filezilla, go here.


Step 1: Open Internet Explorer

  1. Go to your desktop
  2. Click on the Internet Explorer icon
  3. Application will open on your screen


Step 2: Log on to the FTP server
A - Enter the FTP server in the address bar B - Enter the username and password to log on
C - Download-only FTP server window appears in Internet Explorer D - Select menu option to open FTP site in Windows Explorer
  1. Type the FTP server name in the address bar and hit Enter
  2. A new window will pop up where you can enter the username and password
  3. Type the correct information only in those fields and click "Log On"
  4. Internet Explorer 7 will only show download links for the FTP server and your folder cannot be uploaded here
  5. Choose "View" from the menu and click "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer"


Step 3: Upload your files
A - After logging on, a list of folders appears B - Drag your content onto the Internet Explorer window
  1. A list of folders on the server will appear and the window will take on the look of a Windows Explorer window
  2. Make sure your upload content is prepared exactly the way you want it to appear in its final version, and that the folder is named correctly with your company name and date (i.e. Company Name 01.25.09)
  3. Drag the properly named single folder containing the content onto the Windows Explorer FTP window in an area where there are no other folders. If you drag it onto another folder, it will be copied to the wrong location


Step 4: Verify files have been uploaded
A - Files being transferred to the FTP server B - Folder that has completed uploading
  1. Folder and files will show a status window while they are being transferred. Do not close this window, as it will disappear by itself when it is complete
  2. Verify that your folder is shown next to the others once the status window finishes transferring the upload
  3. If you accidentally put your folder into another client's directory, contact us so that we can correct it
  4. You may close all windows once you are sure it is uploaded

Internet Explorer 7 - How To Check Version



Step 1: Open Internet Explorer

  1. Go to your desktop
  2. Click on the Internet Explorer icon
  3. Application will open on your screen


Step 2: Locate and Open the "Help" Menu

  1. Locate the top menu in Internet Explorer (File, Edit, etc..)
  2. Click on "Help"


Step 3: Open "About Internet Explorer" Details

  1. A list will drop down from the "Help" menu when clicked
  2. Click on "About Internet Explorer" at the bottom of that list


Step 4: Verify Program Version

  1. A new window will pop up with information about the version of Internet Explorer being used
  2. After verifying your version of the browser, you can click "OK" to close the pop-up window and return to Internet Explorer
